READING FILE COOKING

Ovens, cooktops & cookers

Name the appliance and its energy source before discussing who should attend.

Several appliances share a kitchen

A freestanding cooker, built-in oven and separate cooktop are different service contexts. Start with the model information already available to you and explain which part of the kitchen is affected.

Gas work needs the right expertise

Work on a gas appliance or connection belongs with an appropriately qualified professional. Requirements depend on the work and location. Do not use these pages to adjust fittings, alter combustion settings or investigate a suspected leak.

Electrical work is also a boundary

Accessible controls and internal electrical parts are not the same thing. Do not remove covers or attempt to access live components. Ask the provider whether they are qualified for the proposed work.

Be precise about the report

A control that did not respond and an appliance that did not reach an expected result are observations. They do not prove a particular component has failed. Describe what you experienced and let the assessment establish the cause.

Clarify the follow-up

Ask whether the written outcome describes an assessment, completed work or a recommendation. If use restrictions are recorded, get a clear explanation from the responsible professional.
